It's now confirmed he and his family were on the 'dole' by several agents they played for saps. The agents were allowed to USC practices and even into the locker room. Carrol knew about it, but turned a blind eye and deaf ear to the whole thing.

So my question is, what should the punishment be?

To me, USC had the ability here to invoke some institutional control (much like Oklahoma did with Bomar), but failed to do so. Also, the Bush's clearly knew what they were doing was wrong.

If the NCAA has any guts when it comes to policing their #1 west coast team, this would be my punishment: Take away all wins for 2005, take away Bush's Heisman, take away 5-8 scholarships for 2007 & 2008, no bowl games or TV appearances for those two years as well.

That said, the NCAA has no guts when it comes to USC and I think they will simply take away the 2005 wins- big deal.

No one can have any doubts he and his family received money and other benefits.  If the money was given back in 2004 as CFT reports, then the national championship should be revoked.  USC No Peat sounds good to me.

My understanding this all took place in the 2005 season. So, the 2004 season is untouchable.

midway through the article on the rumor mill it states some of the allegations stem back to the 2004 season so potentially they could have to forfeit games he played in.  however, im sure the NCAA will issue a 500 page report with findings and threaten the school for further problems with words like probation and other cow dung that means nothing to a school like USC.

reggie reggie reggie, first of all to bearcat they only won one national championship which should now be revoked. Secondly this is only the beginning of the problems for usc once the ncaa starts poking its nose around your program all your dirty laundry is going to be exposed, and believe you me this doesn't stop with reggie bush. Dwayne jarrett has been linked to agents on the field in practice along with a number of other usc players. My opinion is welcome to hurricane land circa 1994-1998 with recruiting problems no scholarships and no bowl games good riddance

This whole thing is blown out of proportion. Athletes at every school get special treatment and many take money. They're making millions for the schools anyway. A real investigation into any of the big programs would result in forfeits of every teams games. This forum sounds like a lot of complaining from fans whose teams couldn't recruit a talent like Bush. I'm sure those SEC players are all honest and work part time jobs to make spending money.

In general I lean toward's 'canes point of view.

The one thing that gives me pause, however, is that it wasn't a USC alumni involved, but an agent. On the other hand, Pete Carol was well aware that something was wrong, so that may invoke a harsh penalty.
