My vote this year goes with the Pac 10. USC, CAL, ASU & UO all have top 10 potential. No other conference can make that statement. However, as they will beat each other up and will probably only end up with two top 10 teams. Add to that they have at least 3 other top 20 teams. Probably their best overall conference strength in 15 years.

Don't know about Cal. Every time people start hyping Cal, they get whipped by Texas Tech in their bowl game. Same with Oregon. Last yr, "only loss" was to USC, unless you count the butt-whopping they got by OK in their bowl game.
ASU gave up over 40 points to Rutgers in their bowl game. Rutgers didn't score 40 all yr, and they played those defensive juggernauts Villanova, Buffalo, and Georgetown.
As good as Top 4 are, bottom 6 are awful.
BTW, ACC could end up with 4 top 10...Miami, FSU, Va Tech, Clemson
Good points. There are a few conferences that look pretty healthy at the top.
The only real joke is the Big East. WVU has 1 tough game...they could easily go undefeated and be BCS bound, but a team like UCLA, Florida, Penn St, Notre Dame could lose 2, be a better team than WVU, but by virtue of top tier conference, they get jobbed...
palmetto you don't have to worry about notre dame getting jobbed out of no. 2 by west virginia. They're going to lose 4 to 5 games this year . bunch of ass clowns anyways, now on to the real point the best conference. I have done tedious research on this and have come to the following conclusions the acc wins out over the sec by a nose. ACC Miami, Florida State,Virginia tech, clemson, boston college Georgia TEch match up pretty well with the top six from the sec but the difference is the middle and bottom teams. Duke, North carolina, Wake forest, Maryland, Nc State, Virginia are far superior to the bottom and middle teams of the sec. Look at the numbers over the past few years. Now whoever the joker is that said the pac 10 is the best conference in the land is, I want to know what it is that you're on because i want some of it.

I know. That bugs me when schools schedule St Mary's Girls School for the Blind outside their conference schedule. Iowa has a fairly easy schedule as well. To me, they're a so-so tea, but will probably lose 1 or 2 games and play in a bowl game well above them.
or they can win the sugar bowl in dominating fashion and deserve the praise they get. Besides, Louisville is the best team in the conference this year. They will beat Miami FL, sorry its da canes, and then beat west virginia. Its not inconceivable to have two big east teams in the Big East this year. Obviously ESPN, no matter what this site says about them and I agree they are too big and need competition, thinks the Big East has promise in football with the new TV deal just reached today with The Big East. No matter what Louisville, West Virginia or anyother team from The Big East does, people will still bash it, which just shows the average fan is no smarter than a buckeye football player.
Agree with your PAC 10 comment. A conf that doesn't play defense isn't a real football conference.
WRT ACC/SEC...top tier don't match up as well as you assert. Florida beat FSU last yr, Georgia beat Ga Tech, and LSU beat Miami in the Peach Bowl. Middle - Arkansas and South Carolina have been to more bowls last 5-6 seasons than Va, MD, or NC State. Bottom tier - Vandy beat Wake last yr, and Duke hasn't defeated a D-1 opponent in like 5 seasons. UK better than UNC. Ol Miss, Miss St would beat Duke and Wake, and give MD and UVA a run.
To bearcatbob....Dude, two teams does not a football conference make....UConn is barely D-I, South Florida was donutted by NC State last yr, and Rutgers first bowl appearance since Reconstruction does not bode well for the power of your conf...
