I just noticed that the c-usa replay official has been suspended for a reversal of a fumble in i believe the memphis game. i have not seen the play or heard anyone talk about it. obviously the oklahoma oregon game was a mess but i dont know for sure about the memphis game. maybe the c-usa official needs to be suspended but i also can see a scenario developing where conferences are going to feel pressure to suspend officials after every questionable call. replay officials will become gunshy about overturning a call and let the call on the field stand even if it is 70-30 that it should be overturned. maybe college replay disapears all together. i dont believe that will happen or should happen but a serious discussion and education has to take place in the offseason about what should be overturned and what should not.
being the purist of the game that i am personally i hate instant replay. That is one of the glorious things about this game officials are human too. If they fu** a game up so be it so i hope it does go away after this year just like the stupid fast play clock they put in this year what a bunch of bull sh** that is. It was one of the defining things that made college all that much better than the pros. The fact a team could be down 14 with 2:59 left in the game and they could come back and tie at least if not win the game. The great one has spoken
im not against replay being used. but i absolutely hate the speed up the clock rules. i hope as reported by CFT.com that the rules goes down the pooper next year. not sure any college football fan wouldnt want games lasting longer and more exciting down the stretch.
I also dislike instant replay (ruins the flow of the game) as well as the new rules to speed up the game. As to your post, it's a little of both. Oklahoma had every right to bitch, but they took it too far. Bad calls are simply a part of any sport. I umpired baseball up thru HS & American Legion and attended a major league umpiring camp and missed calls are simply always going to be there. Even with instant replay.
